For most old-school gamers, the Wii’s Virtual Console is like a trip down memory lane, harkening back to a better era of blowing into cartridges in order to get them to start or alternating turns by passing a controller back and forth to beat the boss in Area 4-4. Classics from Nintendo’s home systems of yore (as well as the SEGA Genesis, Turbo-Grafx 16, and Neo-Geo) are now available again for download, bringing out the nostalgic, old-school gamer in all of us. Here is a list of some of Virtual Console games that absolutely deserve a spot in anyone’s Virtual Console library.

 

Sin & Punishment
A highly revered Japanese exclusive, this title has been fetching huge dollars on the import market, making it a huge bargain on the Virtual Console.
Punch-Out!!
One of the greatest boxing games ever, Punch Out!!! set the bar very high for all to follow. Good luck with Mr. Dream.
Tecmo Bowl
Even after nearly two decades, some still consider this to be one of the best sports games ever released.

I love Ocarina of Time but I still think Majora's Mask is the best 3D Zelda game to date.  Flame wars have been started with tho...
