This year’s most anticipated movie is only five days away (December 17)…but fans can already experience the epic journey through EA GAMES’ The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King videogame.

To further feed the excitement for New Line Cinema’s third and final film, EA is releasing new, never before seen assets from the game, including scenes from the climactic struggle of Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli against Sauron’s forces at the Black Gate of Mordor.

Based on New Line Cinema’s upcoming film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King video game once again puts the fate of Middle-earth in the hands of the gamer. In the final installment of the blockbuster movie trilogy, players must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the Crack of Doom, freeing Middle-earth from the clutches of the Dark Lord Sauron.

Based on the environments from the upcoming movie, The Return of the King’s third person gameplay includes immersive action and adventure elements set in rich, interactive levels. An all-new multiplayer co-op mode (including online play for PlayStation 2) lets players form their own Fellowship before embarking on their journey through Middle-earth. The film actors reprise their roles in the game, and over 200,000 film assets were used in the game’s creation.

The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King is available on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC and GameBoy Advance.
