THQ SHIPS BASS STRIKE FOR PLAYSTATION 2
The BASSMASTERS Tournament Trail Starts Here!
CALABASAS HILLS, Calif. - October 4, 2001 - THQ Inc. (NASDAQ NMS: THQI) today announced the release of Bass Strike™ for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Developed by Pai, Bass Strike is licensed by one of the most prestigious brands in the world of bass fishing, the Bass Angler Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and is now available at major retail outlets nationwide.
“More than 60 million people take to the water and bass fish every year,” stated Michael Rubinelli, vice president, product development, THQ. “Bass Strike combines both arcade action and realistic fishing technologies in the first ever fishing game for the PlayStation 2. Virtual anglers everywhere can now experience the thrill and excitement of bass fishing as they kick back and bass in their own living rooms.”
Bass Strike showcases a dynamic camera feature that follows the action above and below the water, seamlessly capturing the vigorous fight sequences of anglers struggling to reel in their catch. Bass Strike is the only fishing game that allows players to compete in eight rounds of tournament action and qualify as one of 50 anglers to make it to the main event, the B.A.S.S. Masters Classic®. More than 35 lures are available for a variety of weather conditions and scenarios, whether the angler needs to penetrate heavy cover and underbrush with a popular “Texas Rig” or mimic the movements of a minnow with the “Floating Jerkbait”, Bass Strike equips the angler with the necessary tools for a long day of “lunker” hunting on any of the five unique lakes. Bass Strike includes six diverse playable anglers, each with their own fishing techniques, style and tackle box. Realistic fish behavior and animated graphics including sparkling water, natural wildlife and churning waterfalls are also featured in Bass Strike.
