FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: BATTLE FOR THE FUTURE IN EIDOS' FIGHTING ADVENTURE EOE: EVE OF EXTINCTION Unlock The "Legacy" On The Playstation®2 Computer Entertainment System San Francisco, CA - (June 18, 2001) - Eidos Interactive, a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment, today announced that EOE: Eve Of Extinction is currently in development for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. YUKE'S Co., Ltd., the development studio responsible for WWF Smackdown for the PlayStation® game console and Sword of the Berserk for the Sega Dreamcastä, is developing EOE: Eve Of Extinction. The game is slated to arrive in stores Fall of 2001. "Eidos is extremely pleased to be teaming up with YUKE'S to bring EOE: Eve Of Extinction to the PlayStation 2," says Kevin Gill, Senior Product Manager at Eidos Interactive. "With an innovative combat and weapons system, theatrical cinematics, and breathtaking graphics, EOE is poised to establish itself as a gaming force to be reckoned with." EOE: Eve Of Extinction is a single-player fighting / adventure game in which the gamer plays the role of Josh Calloway, an employee of the multi-national conglomerate Wisdom Inc. The company is a pioneer in technology advancement through the manipulation of DNA, cloning, and genetic food modification. Josh stumbles upon proof that Wisdom's good intentions are nothing but a front to cover-up their main objective: To create a deadly weapon capable of mass destruction. And they have succeeded. Wisdom has successfully fused the essence of a human soul with a crystal, and code-named the weapon Legacy. After learning of Wisdom's evil intent, Josh flees with his girlfriend Eliel, but they are captured and Eliel's soul is forced to become the core of the most powerful Legacy made to date. Sworn to stop Wisdom at all costs, Josh wages an epic struggle to save his girlfriend and stop a madman from destroying the world. And so the battle begins… EOE: Eve Of Extinction boasts YUKE'S Co., Ltd. internally developed 3D graphical engine. This engine allows for highly-detailed, free-roaming 3D environments that are vast and fully interactive. The powerful engine also ensures a very fast and fluid gaming experience, while delivering brilliant, high-quality modeling and texturing of characters and environments. These graphical achievements are apparent in both game-play and the interactive cut-scenes, with seamless transitions between the two. "We will fuse all of the next generation technology we have at YUKE'S into EOE to create an action game with an adrenaline rush unlike any other," states Yoshio Togiya, Executive Director of Development for YUKE'S. "We promise players that the game will be so action packed that you won't be able to take your hands off the controller." The gameplay of EOE focuses on the multi-faceted weapon known as the Legacy. The player will collect different power crystals from defeating boss enemies in spectacular battles. These crystals are used to power the Legacy weapon. The weapon itself will have the ability to transform into numerous different weapons depending on the power crystal. All of the various weapons in EOE will also have their own individual special attacks such as time-stop, anti-gravity and energy projectiles. In EOE, the player will use their weapons in many different scenarios. Gamers will fight against waves of unique enemies and bosses, each with their own fighting styles, weapon types and strengths. The Legacy plays a key role in the puzzle system as well, as the player will use it to bypass barriers, access unreachable areas, and evade confrontation when desired.
