Shining Force EXA Ships to Retailers in North America

The Power Of The Shining Force Is Unleashed In An Entirely New Adventure For The PlayStation 2

SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced it has shipped Shining Force EXA for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system to North American retailers. Shining Force EXA is the newest chapter in one of SEGA’s most beloved and longest running RPG franchises. Shining Force EXA is set to take gamers on quests filled with new heights of adventure and excitement.

Shining Force EXA features an entirely new storyline featuring over 40 hours of fast-paced action-RPG style gameplay. The story in Shining Force EXA is driven with stunning Japanese anime-style cutscenes that sets the atmosphere for this new adventure. The game also introduces a new Fortress System that allows players to experience two sides of the battle by using aggressive offensive and defensive strategies to protect their “Geo Fortress,” the player’s home base.

Character customization has been upgraded in Shining Force EXA. Equipping NPC (non-playable character) party members with different items will directly affect their look on screen as well as their AI thus affecting their behavior in the game. This gives the player the ability to fully customize their gaming experience visually and enhance the skills of their party members. With enhanced party command abilities, improved character customization, two main playable characters, and a distinctive art style, Shining Force EXA amplifies the strategic component while offering players a deep sense of personal involvement in the game’s story.

Shining Force EXA’s new Fortress System gives players the ability to manage the development, layout, and defense of the Geo Fortress. As players leave the Geo Fortress to go on missions and quests, they are kept abreast of events at the fortress. If at anytime the Geo Fortress comes under attack during the quest, players must switch between both parties and use members from the defensive force to protect the fortress from invasion. The Geo Fortress can evolve during the game to match players’ personal style and tactics as “Core Metal” is discovered during quests. Through further player development the Geo Fortress will not only serve as the player’s home base in the game, but also can serve as the ultimate weapon to wield upon the enemy.

Shining Force EXA is available now at video game retailers nationwide. Rated ‘E10+’ for “Everyone 10 and older” by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, Shining Force EXA will retail at $49.95.
