State of Emergency Strategy Guide Review
by Kevin Krause

While State of Emergency may seem to be nothing more than complete madness, it is in fact necessary to play with some amount of strategy in order to beat the game.  As I mentioned in the State of Emergency review, the game does get fairly difficult at certain points and this can be quite frustrating.  Brady Games has once again come to the aid of gamers, offering an official 128 page strategy guide to help us make it through the game alive, despite the utter chaos.

The first chapter begins by going in depth about each of the five characters that can be used in the game.  Their unique fighting moves are described and screenshots of the moves are also shown.  This section is very helpful when deciding which fighter to use, as it outlines their advantages and disadvantages of each, which may be otherwise hard to figure out.

The weapons are also described in full detail and many previously unspecified facts about them are unveiled.  Noteworthy recommendations are made about which weapons to use in particular situations and each of their damage levels as well as ranges are all specified.  No more guessing which gun is more powerful or goes the farthest, now you can know for sure!  Additionally, Brady Games has listed the initial health values of the various characters found in the game, such as gang members, civilians, policeman, and soldiers.  By knowing these facts, many decisions can be made much more easily during gameplay.

General tips to allow gamers to more easily dominate the streets are also offered and many of these would be otherwise overlooked by most.  The guide goes through each game mode and points out various tips that can help to increase points and complete missions more efficiently.  Also, it outlines what it takes to unlock characters, maps, and additional bonus game modes. Very detailed maps of each level have also been included, which specify spawn points, mission giver locations, and the actual store names for reference.  These maps are can be extremely beneficial, since the on-screen map doesn't specify much information.

For each mission (revolution mode) there is a thorough walkthrough available and additional tips are also presented for many them.  This guide goes surprisingly in depth in terms of telling you literally exactly how to go about completing all the missions.  Therefore, there's no question about the most direct route to take to specified points or who you should waste time fighting in the middle of a mission.  Although it's not essential that these guidelines be followed precisely, doing so can make the game a lot more straightforward.

This strategy guide really couldn't be improved in any way, as it is very comprehensive.  The glossy color pages include everything gamers need to know in order to take full control of the game and the hundreds of screenshots don't hurt either.  Whether you're having trouble with certain aspects of State of Emergency and you want to get a hold on the chaos or you simply want to know the game inside and out, I'd recommend checking out this great guide by Brady Games.
