EIGHTH ANNUAL EA SPORTS MADDEN BOWL WILL BE HOSTED BY ROLLERBALL STAR LL COOL J IN NEW ORLEANS, JANUARY 31
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - January 22, 2002 - Kicking off the weeklong festivities that precede the Super Bowl®, the Eighth Annual Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) EA SPORTS(tm) Madden Bowl(tm) will be held Thursday night, January 31, 7:30 p.m. at Tipitina's in the French Quarter. Hosted by Rollerball star LL Cool J, top NFL players from around the league along with Hollywood celebrities will be competing to see who will be crowned EA SPORTS Madden Bowl Champion on the PlayStation*2 computer entertainment system of the eight-man tournament.
The EA SPORTS Madden Bowl has become the most exciting pre-game VIP event during Super Bowl week, with players and celebrities going head-to-head on the #1 selling football videogame franchise in the world, Madden NFL* 2002. Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Jacquez Green, last year's EA SPORTS Madden Bowl Champion, will be back to defend his title against other NFL players, including Daunte Culpepper (Minnesota Vikings), Shannon Sharpe (Baltimore Ravens), Shaun Alexander (Seattle Seahawks), La'Roi Glover, Aaron Brooks (New Orleans Saints), Jeff Garcia, Kevin Barlow, Jeremy Newberry (San Francisco 49ers), Michael Vick (Atlanta Falcons), Antonio Freeman (Green Bay Packers), Tony Gonzalez (Kansas City Chiefs), Jimmy Smith (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Brandon Stokley (Baltimore Ravens). John Madden will also be at the Madden Bowl. Celebrities scheduled to appear include Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and Chris Klein, currently starring in MGM Pictures' Rollerball with LL Cool J, which hits theaters on February 8.
