There are a lot of cycle sport games on the market so it’s hard to say which is the best for you. For me there are games that I favor over MXrider although it brought me hours of entertainment. The controls are a bit difficult to grasp at first especially if you have already been tainted by another cycle game that you came to enjoy. For example, you have to manipulate the controls just right to get the bike to jump higher and farther. This one little thing could be the difference between winning and losing. You can adjust the A/I intelligence to your satisfaction. When the A/I is set on difficult let me tell you it is just that. One wrong move and you’ll be wiping the mud off of your goggles from the back of the pack. I never did take first place on the motocross tracks but I was nearly unstoppable on the super cross tracks. I wasn’t comfortable with this game when I first started playing it but the more I played it the more comfortable I got, and the more comfortable I got the more I started to enjoy this game. The stunts are a lot more difficult to grasp than other games but the advantage to this is that once you are comfortable enough to use them there are over thirty tricks that you can pull in the air and that’s without combining them.

You can choose to ride as one of 60 real life pro riders on 23 officially licensed motocross and supercross tracks as well as six fantasy freestyle arenas. There is a career mode where you can choose between racing MX 125, MX 250, MX 500, SX 125, and SX 250 tracks. If you place well enough while racing you may be offered a contract or two. If you agree to a contract you will have to accomplish the expectations of the contract or it will be cancelled. You can also decline the contract and hope that a better one will come along.

MX Rider has a garage where you can make adjustments to your bike to make it more appropriate to your needs. You can change things like your tire size, suspension, and torque.

The graphics are quite good from what I can tell. It’s tough to go into much detail because everything is racing past you so fast that you don’t get a chance to pay too much attention. You have to keep your eyes ahead of you on the track because even a quick glance away can leave your rider picking himself up off the ground. Although I did see a tractor loader and some tall city buildings beyond the crowd and stadium walls. The replay highlights are cool but they don’t always show the things that you want to see. Maybe you wiped out hard and you wanted to see it on the highlights but chances are that they won’t show it because it wasn’t a positive highlight.

The sound was pretty good though the music selection could have been a bit larger. Given the extreme sport, the music was fitting. As you would expect good punk style rock as if it were going to be on the next Krusty’s Demons of Dirt video.

MXrider is extremely entertaining and I’ve enjoyed it for hours at a time,l by myself, without seeing the time go. It’s a game that is very competitive to play, and once the controls are grasped and you can take full advantage of this game then you will be capable of things that would be unimaginable to even the most famous of supercross stars. This game was challenging and entertaining and although I feel that there are better cycle games, you have to find the one that your most compatible with.
