Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge Review

So some deranged stuffed cat steals your kids and leaves you out to dry.  Are you just gonna loaf around and live out your plush life in peace or are you going to go out and kick some furry butt?  In Fur Fighters: Viggo's revenge the answer is an enthusiastic call to battle.  Playing as one of a multitude of characters each featuring special abilities that place tem above, or in some cases below, the rest, it is your mission to rescue your kidnapped kids and take out Viggo for good.  But this isn't just some walk in the park.  With and army of stuffed bears against you its going to take wits cunning and a whole lot of ammo to accomplish your goals.

Initially control issues were a problem but they were easily corrected simply by visiting the options screen.  Once I had that under control I moved onto the actual gameplay, which was to my delight full of dodging enemies special abilities and attacks that were unique to each character.  Indeed one of the best things about this game is that the characters are so well designed that no matter how long you actually spend playing them you are left with a feeling of their personality.

Featuring a cartoon style reminiscent of flash animation Viggo's revenge immerses you in a world of ghostly walrus's and bears that explode in a hailstorm of fluff when shot.  Coupled with high paced action, music and sound effects Viggo's Revenge provides enough of a rush to deal with the fact that the game tends to get a little monotonous.

Fighting the armies of bears and acquiring new weapons and characters keeps the interest high...for a while.  I found that even with the intricate and well thought out level designs that require the use of every character at some point or another, and even the multiple puzzles, that the game just lost its flair after a while.  While not just another mindless shooter it definitely has its roots, or paws as the case may be, firmly rooted in that genre.

In the end the thing that pushes this game over the edge is the inclusion of a multi player feature allowing you to take out all your childhood aggressions on a living opponent.  And best of all no one ever breaks a toy...unless someone takes out their loosing frustrations on the Playstation 2.  Overall Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge is a fun repetitive game sure to stir up childhood memories.

Install: Easy
Playstation 2...'nuff said.

Gameplay: 7
Many different control options, multiple characters with special abilities, and a good mix between puzzler and straight shooter.

Graphics: 8
Cute and cuddly...with weapons...kinda like chucky.

Sound: 8
Energizing music coupled with top rate effects.

Difficulty: 6
Once the controls are mastered the game is fairly straight forward.

Concept: 8
While I cant say it makes much sense the concept of stuffed animals packing heat just brings back childhood memories.

Multiplayer: 7
Now you can knock the stuffing out of your friends without costly visits to the hospital!

Overall: 8
It's a good game but perhaps a little repetitive.
