Ok. Beyond the radioactive bread products, Bioware has created an intricate and bizarrely funny game that should delight followers of the series and newbies alike.  The story starts off fairly simple.  It’s another take on aliens threatening the earth, not the most original plot but the characters immediately begin to make up for this relative shortcoming.

First of all the three, count em' three playable main characters offer differing challenges and modes of game play.  My personal favorite was the six-legged robotic dog Max (when you see four of those legs are holding Uzi’s as Max smokes his stogie you'll understand why), but Kurt the reluctant janitor/hero and the possibly insane Dr. Hawkins offer interesting options as well.  Oh and its Dr. Hawkins that shoots the atomic toast:)

The graphics are fairly high end as evidenced by the powerful zoom feature on Kurt's sniper weapon.  I saw none of the problems normally associated with polygon based platforms and instead was treated with a visually smooth game.  In the sound section, I was impressed by the constantly varied soundtrack as well as the large amount of spoken dialogue.  Hearing the big bad alien say, "Who's your daddy?" was priceless.

Certain aspects of the gameplay could take some getting used too.  But for the most part anyone versed in the Nintendo style of platform jumping should pick up many aspects of this game fairly quickly.  I found the sniping a little annoying at times but it also helped keep the game from being another monotonous shooter.  Also the many character changes kept me on my toes.  Adapting your play style to a different character every other board creates an interesting challenge, forcing you to learn the intricacies of three characters to succeed.  The difficulty of some of the puzzles was disturbing.  Many of the problems I had resulted in simply not seeing the particular mechanism I needed to trigger.  In such large and well-developed boards potentially interactive pieces sometimes tended to fade into the background.

While the plot is less than original the overall concept is outstanding.  The main characters all have their own quirks that keep you laughing and the aliens provide even more comic relief.  It's a great game that laughs at itself, its characters and even includes pop culture references.  The result is a game that makes you laugh, and like a good comedy you cant wait to see what the next joke will be.

Bioware successfully weaved puzzles, platform jumping, and one of the most pimpadelic aliens ever to grace a video game console, into a hilarious game, that teaches children only aliens still do the Macarena.
