“This is the first Armored Core that asks you to go back and create robots,” said Agetec’s Dave Silviera.
“This is the Grand Turismo of robot games,” he added.
Armored Core, from Agetec and From Software, Inc., is a PlayStation 2 title slated for release in August 2005.
“There are no missions,” Silviera said, “it is all about combat and training.”
Nine Breaker features include:
Two modes of play – hardcore training with more than 150 skill-boosting
missions – and area combat in more than 20 arenas.
400-plus parts to design the ultimate AC unit
Fast-paced battle sequences
And up to four players can participate in multiplayer.
The game is all about battles. Players train to become the ultimate warrior and the more they fight and score, the better will be the mob drops. If they are truly skilled enough, they can take their skills to the arena matches.
While only a cutscene was available at the meeting during the Electronic Entertainment Exposition in Los Angeles, the game did sport lush graphical elements. This is a title to keep an eye on when it releases this summer. Mech games are a staple to gaming, but good titles are tough to come by. Armored Core: Nine Breaker looks to be one of those games that will keep players and fans of the genre glued to their consoles for fast-paced combat fun.
