World Championship Poker Preview

Of the niche “sports” to gain popularity in the past year or so, poker is certainly the one that is rising the fastest.  From celebrities playing against each other for charity or professionals vying for prize pots in the millions, poker seems to be everywhere.  Crave Entertainment is taking advantage of this situation with their release of World Championship Poker scheduled for release in the Fourth Quarter of 2004.

World Championship Poker will offer over eighteen different poker games, from Texas Hold’em to Five Card Draw and Pineapple, played in six tournament locations like a TV studio and a Mississippi riverboat.  The game will also provide poker tutorials, complete with strategies and hints.

Players will be able to customize their onscreen characters with over 80 different options for customization.

The game will feature online support over GameSpy, allowing players to compete in worldwide poker tournaments.  In an added bonus, the game supports the Eye Toy unit, enabling you to see your opponents real poker face on screen and determine if they are bluffing or not.  You can also smack talk your opponents over a USB headset or with a USB keyboard.

With a bunch of pretty cool and innovative features, World Poker Championship should be a pretty fun game of cards when it comes out later this year.
