E3 2003 - Hands On
Sammy was showing off Lethal Skies 2 at E3 this year, their follow up to the first Lethal Skies. It’s currently being developed by Asmik Ace, who is also developing the game based on the Kurosawa film Seven Samurai 20XX. In Lethal Skies 2, you pilot various airplanes and complete missions given to you for each level.
Lethal Skies 2 is definitely an action packed sequel with beautiful graphics and fast gameplay. There’s one level that has you dogfighting in a thunderstorm, and the rain and lightning effects are done so well that you can’t help but feel like you’re there. Thunderstorms aren’t the only environments though – there are plenty of weather conditions and times of day to choose from. There will be 7 new planes since the last Lethal Skies, making for a total of 19 planes.
There are 20 different missions to play in Lethal Skies 2, and the one I got to play had you taking down enemy planes that were attempting to attack your base. Once you think you’re finished, you find out that missiles are on there way, so now you have to chase them down and shoot them out of the sky before they take out your headquarters. Beyond the 20 initial missions, there will also be 5 unlockable missions that have you playing as the enemy. The controls are responsive, making for some fast and exciting action.
Expect to see Lethal Skies 2 in September from Sammy.
