E3 2004 PreviewsLast year, the game Psi-Ops (known then as ESPionage) gave gamers a glimpse into the inner workings of a psychic super-agent.  However, a long time has passed since last year, and Midway is presenting the game in a bit of a different light.  Psi-Ops puts gamers as a secret-agent on somewhat of a personal vendetta against those who’ve taken his memory and his powers.  You start the game without any psychic abilities, only your cunning and some pretty impressive firepower are all that you’ve got.  However, as the game progresses, you begin to remember your past and through flashbacks (which actually serve as tutorial missions), you regain your powers and can use them to your advantage against your foes.

The powers are really cool.  For starters, there is telekinesis, which allows you to throw items in the environment as well as hoist enemies into the air and toss them like rag-dolls.  As a bonus, the game uses the Havok 2.0 physics engine, so these objects react very realistically when thrown about. Also, there is the Remote View, which allows you to look outside of your body and see around corners without moving, Aura View, which lets you see enemies auras (whether or not they are panicked or calm and unsuspecting), Mind Drain, where you drain enemies minds in order to build up your Psychic powers bar, Mind Control, where you gain control of an enemy unit, and Pyrokinesis, or starting fires on your own accord.

Psi-Ops is looking to be a great action title when it ships this June.
